“Wild Bill” Hickok
What better way to commemorate your visit to downtown Boerne than to snap a pic with one of the Old West’s most notorious gunslingers, “Wild Bill “Hickok. This bronze sculpture by local artist Erik Christianson depicts a life-sized rendition of the gunslinger lounging on a park bench, creating the perfect photo setup for groups and solo travelers alike.
Where to find "Wild Bill" Hickok
You’ll find Wild Bill on Main Street, right in front of Boerne’s Main Plaza, on the Hill Country Mile.
The Boerne Mural
The "Boerne Mural,” a can’t-miss stop to commemorate a day in town, resides on the side of The Corner Cartel, a home decor, gift and antique shop located at 265 S. Main St. Corner Cartel owners Paul and Nancy Holekamp commissioned the piece and artist Mike Vanderberg, who has since passed away, completed it in 2019, leaving a beautiful legacy for guests to enjoy for years to come.
More About The Mural...
The mural is in the style of the vintage “greetings from” travel postcards, with each letter in Boerne representing a historic building in town. Boerne’s Cibolo Creek and iconic gazebo run along the bottom of the mural, and a final nod to Texas–a field of bluebonnets–completes the iconic piece. With its large size and stunning bright yellow background, this stop always stands out on everyone’s social feed.
