Steeped in Hill Country charm, the colorful storefronts and historic buildings that are downtown Boerne’s Hill Country Mile will bring feelings of nostalgia–but our shops, restaurants and galleries are anything but antiquated. For a truly unique shopping experience, check out chic boutique clothing, jewelry, gifts, home goods and works of art. Top off a day of exploring at one of our restaurants or craft breweries, where you’ll be greeted with small-town hospitality. With more than 80 shops and restaurants offering something different, and year-round events unique to Boerne, it’s no surprise Country Living Magazine named the Hill Country Mile one of the “Top 25 Small Town Main Streets in America.”
For the History Buffs
The Mile is home to some of Boerne’s most stunning historic buildings, rich in history and architecture. Many of the shops and restaurants call these beauties home. Have coffee or lunch at The Dienger Trading Co. or Bear Moon Bakery, housed in two of Boerne’s most iconic buildings, and plan a stay at The Kendall, the original stagecoach stop, that boasts Southern Colonial style architecture, beautiful guest rooms and a rich history dating back to 1859 in Boerne. The Kendall includes Peggy’s on the Green, a South-inspired, all-American fine dining restaurant.
More to see on The Mile
Just steps from the Hill Country Mile are beautiful, meandering paths along the banks of the Cibolo Creek, you can enjoy meticulously maintained historic properties and pocket parks on paved trails. Fishing piers and picnic tables will make you feel like you are “away from it all,” without having to travel hours out of town.
